Adios y Quédate se entiende mejor como un compuesto de rueda construido a partir de Adios más una instrucción de quedarse, en lugar de como una figura de casino universalmente estandarizada, porque las referencias disponibles identifican a Adios como un movimiento de rueda, mientras señalan que Quédate por sí solo es español corriente y no un movimiento de rueda nombrado comparable.[1] En la rueda, las parejas bailan en círculo bajo la dirección de un líder que canta las figuras, de modo que la figura funciona como una acción de pareja indicada dentro de un tiempo grupal sincronizado, y no como un patrón libre de turnos.[2] El componente Adios utiliza un giro compacto sobre un eje compartido; las descripciones permiten la entrada desde Vacílala o Enchufla, y la forma que gira hacia la izquierda se denomina Adios Inverso.[3] En el compuesto, la pareja completa la rotación de Adios en mitades escalonadas, y luego la orden de quedarse resuelve la acción manteniendo al bailador con la misma pareja, en lugar de continuar con un intercambio de parejas. On 5-6-7, the follower breaks back on the left on 5, continues the compact rotation around the shared center, and completes roughly a half-turn total by 7, staying with the same leader at the resolution.
