Cadeneta es una figura de cadena de la rueda de casino: la relación de pareja se abre hacia una secuencia circulante en la que los bailadores pasan por parejas sucesivas mediante conexiones de manos alternadas, para luego volver al acompañamiento habitual de la rueda cuando el cantante da una orden de resolución.[1] En su forma básica, cada bailador mantiene el tiempo del casino mientras se desplaza alrededor del círculo, en lugar de ejecutar un intercambio de posiciones; líderes y seguidores siguen reflejando los pies entre sí, con un quiebre por compás y el desplazamiento colocado en los pasos restantes.[2] La figura pertenece a la rueda, el formato cubano de baile circular en el que varias parejas se mueven en círculo bajo las órdenes de un cantante, de modo que su identidad es tan colectiva y direccional como propia de un patrón de una sola pareja.[3] Dado que las órdenes de la rueda suelen darse en español, o en mezclas de español e inglés fuera de Cuba, Cadeneta suele conservarse como nombre de orden en español en lugar de traducirse a denominaciones locales en inglés.[4]
