Micaela es una llamada de rueda de casino más que una figura universal de salsa lineal; pertenece al vocabulario nominal que un cantor da a todas las parejas del círculo para una ejecución sincronizada.[1] En el marco común de enseñanza de casino, se maneja como una entrada de la familia de enchufla desde guapea o desde posición abierta: el líder y la seguidora se separan entre sí en el primer compás, la seguidora es redirigida mediante una reorientación escenificada hacia la izquierda, y la pareja resuelve de vuelta a la relación de rueda más que a una línea fija. La rueda de casino suele remontarse a La Habana de los años 50, con parejas circulares, figuras llamadas y cambios frecuentes de pareja como elementos que forman su formato social central.[2] El nombre de la llamada normalmente se conserva en español en los ámbitos de rueda de habla inglesa, pero la figura exacta asociada con Micaela puede diferir entre escuelas, una condición normal en los repertorios de rueda donde los nombres de movimientos y las variaciones pueden diferir por país, ciudad o grupo.[3] La transmisión de Miami es especialmente relevante para las escenas angloparlantes porque los inmigrantes cubanos llevaron la rueda allí en los años 70 y 80, después de lo cual se difundió ampliamente un repertorio de Miami más estructurado.[4]

From guapea or open hold, the leader breaks back on the left foot on 1, replaces on 2, and uses the connected hand to invite an enchufla-style leftward reorientation by 3. On 5-6-7, the leader completes the circular travel and re-collects the follower or next partner according to the local rueda version, keeping the hand path compact and returning the couple to the caller's formation.

From guapea or open hold, the follower breaks back on the right foot on 1, replaces on 2, and accepts the invitation into a leftward reorientation by 3 rather than stepping forward on 1. On 5-6-7, the follower finishes the traveling action, completes the staged re-facing needed for the local version, and lands ready for the next called figure.

- Treating Micaela as a fixed LA or New York slot move instead of a rueda call whose ending may vary by school.
- Having the follower step forward on count 1; both partners should break away from each other on opposite feet.
- Pulling the follower through a single abrupt turn instead of budgeting the reorientation across the two measures.
- Letting the leader's arm travel behind the follower's head or shoulder line, which makes the enchufla-family entry late and heavy.
- Failing to return to the rueda spacing on 7, leaving the next called figure unavailable.
