Renowned dance educator, author of books on ballet instruction, director of a school of arts in NYC, founder of the USA International Ballet Competition, she was, first and foremost, a dancer. In 2010, Ms. Mara was honored posthumously as an American Masterpiece by the National Endowment of the Arts through the Mississippi Arts Commission.
