Espera com volta es una figura compacta de pareja de kizomba construida a partir de una espera, o acción de espera, seguida por una volta controlada, o vuelta. En el marco habitual de abrazo cerrado, el líder reduce el desplazamiento y asienta el peso para crear una breve suspensión, luego redirige al seguidor/a a través de una pequeña rotación en sentido horario o antihorario sin romper el eje compartido de la pareja. Kizomba se describe comúnmente como un social de abrazo cerrado con acciones de caminata suaves, pasos laterales y variaciones de giro, por lo que esta figura pertenece a la familia de figuras rotacionales contenidas más que a las grandes vueltas con desplazamiento.[1] Su tiempo normalmente sigue el compás de cuatro pulsos de la música, con los bailarines adaptando la suspensión y la vuelta al pulso moderado y al énfasis común en los tiempos uno y tres.[2] El nombre es portugués, en correspondencia con el vocabulario lusófono mediante el cual circulan muchas figuras de kizomba angoleñas y de la diáspora; la danza se desarrolló en Angola a finales del siglo XX y se difundió a través de redes africanas y europeas de habla portuguesa.[3] En las clases internacionales suele conservarse la etiqueta portuguesa, mientras que los maestros de habla inglesa pueden describir la acción funcionalmente como una espera con vuelta, más que como un nombre nativo inglés separado.

From close embrace, the leader marks a compact walking or side action on 1-2, settles and contains travel on 3-4 for the espera, then releases a small rotational lead on the next 1-2. The turn is staged: approximately one quarter turn is prepared through the torso and standing leg during the suspension, another quarter to half turn is completed as the follower steps through the volta, and the couple re-collects by 3-4 before resuming normal kizomba walking.

The follower maintains close-frame tone and responds to the reduced travel by collecting weight rather than anticipating a large step. During the volta, the follower turns in the direction indicated by the leader’s torso and frame, keeping steps small under the body: preparation during the held or checked beats, rotation on the following 1-2, and re-collection by 3-4 so the couple can return to walking timing.

- Follower anticipating a large solo spin instead of waiting for the direction, size, and timing of the lead.
