Echeverria es una llamada de lucimiento de la rueda de casino: las parejas permanecen orientadas dentro del círculo, pero la figura se baila como una acción corporal solista y sincronizada, en lugar de un intercambio de pareja con desplazamiento.[1] Se prepara comúnmente desde el séptimo tiempo del patrón anterior; en 1-2-3 los bailadores ejecutan tres giros compactos de torso y cadera con cambios de peso en el mismo lugar, y luego se recuperan a través de 5-6-7 hacia la siguiente llamada de la rueda, o hacia la variante de vuelta, Echeverria con vuelta.[1] Como la acción se realiza en el mismo lugar, el líder y el/la seguidor/a no intercambian posiciones, no utilizan una línea de desplazamiento ni generan una trayectoria de cruce frente al cuerpo; cada bailador conserva la misma cantidad de tiempos mientras mantiene la conciencia de pareja y de círculo necesaria para la siguiente llamada. El nombre está asociado con José Antonio Echeverría, el líder estudiantil cubano asesinado en 1957, y una versión conecta los tres giros con su breve discurso radial en contra de Batista, pronunciado poco antes de su muerte.[1] La llamada pertenece al vocabulario nombrado y sincronizado de la rueda de casino, un formato grupal circular cubano que se desarrolló a partir de la práctica en los clubes sociales habaneros de la década de 1950 y que después se extendió mediante Miami y las redes internacionales de enseñanza de rueda.[2]

On 1-2-3, match the leader and circle with three compact in-place twists and weight changes, keeping orientation controlled. On 5-6-7, recover into the shared casino rhythm and re-establish the connection or open position needed for the next call; in Echeverria con vuelta, complete the added turn on the second half and land in time with the circle.
