Toma Corriente es una llamada de rueda de casino construida en torno a un intercambio compacto de pareja en lugar de una figura lineal de salsa en slot; la pareja mantiene la orientación circular cubana mientras el líder redirige a la seguidora a través de una acción de cruce similar a la enchufla y vuelve a formar la conexión de manos para la siguiente llamada.[1] En el marco común del casino On1, el líder rompe hacia atrás con el pie izquierdo en el 1 mientras la seguidora rompe hacia atrás con el pie derecho en el 1, alejándose ambos de la pareja antes de que la acción de cruce se desarrolle en el 2-3 y el segundo compás se resuelva en el 5-6-7. La rotación se desarrolla por etapas: la pareja se abre aproximadamente un cuarto de giro durante el primer compás, y luego completa alrededor de otro cuarto de giro hasta terminar a cerca de medio giro de la orientación inicial, lo suficiente para reconectar limpiamente sin un latigazo final. El nombre normalmente se conserva en español en los entornos de rueda; no debe normalizarse hacia el sustantivo español cotidiano tomacorriente, que se refiere a un enchufe eléctrico y no a una figura de baile.[2] Fuera de los vocabularios cubanos de rueda, la figura tiene una nomenclatura independiente limitada, por lo que el uso regional se registra mejor como conservación, ausencia o préstamo antes que como traducción literal.

On 5, continue the resolution rather than stopping early; on 6-7, complete the remaining reorientation and reconnect facing the leader for the next call.
