The scene mixes professional show-style at the big halls with neighborhood rumba sessions in courtyards across Centro Habana and Cerro.

Vedado holds the bigger nightclub rooms — Casa de la Música and the long-running cabaret floors. Centro Habana and Old Havana pull from a denser, more local crowd: rumba columbia and guaguancó in the courtyards, casino on the patios. Sundays bring the Callejón de Hamel rumba — public, free, all afternoon. The Malecón along Cerro and Vedado is a venue in itself on warm nights.

Cuban casino is rueda-driven and call-based — different from US-style salsa. If you've only danced On-1 or On-2, expect a learning curve in the first 30 minutes. Listen for the clave, follow the calls, and the rhythm finds you. Locals are patient with foreigners who show up willing to learn.
